What does it do?
TimeLiner 5.0 makes it easy to create, illustrate, and print time lines. Simply enter events and dates, and TimeLiner 5.0 organizes the events into chronological order. Print your time lines in any size to display student work and decorate your classroom.
How does this tie in with comprehension strategies in Grades 4-8? Students can read content area informational texts or literary pieces and respond in creative ways.  They can product visual representations of the information gleaned while extending their understanding with related notes, photographs, sound effects and other resources.  Students can practice sharing the new knowledge form they've constructed with the others by selecting the view that best depicts the message intended for their audience.

Here's a screen shot of a portion of a timeline created in Timeliner that depicts the lifetimes of the Presidents of the United States.

Here's the same information shown in a different view.

Here's a screenshot of the options available for each entry on the timeline with the newest version, TimeLiner 5.0.  The information in timelines can also include ranges of dates in history.  Notice the options available in the designer box shown below; you can add notes, link the entry to a certain photograph, movie or clip art, add sound to this entry or even link directly to a website with more information on the Internet.  All of this can easily be entered into this dialog box by clicking on the appropriate color tab.  This information is automatically transferred to the timeline.

The slide show viewer in Timeliner allows the timeline to be viewed one entry at a time in a slide.  Any accompanying visuals, sound effects or links to online resources will be displayed on this slide at the time of presentation.
