1. Harriet Tubman was born in 1820.
2. As a little girl, Harriet slept on rags and lived in a one-room shack.
3. Harriet was hired out to work for other families.
4. When she got a little older, she cleaned houses and took care of babies.
5. Harriet was hit in the head with an iron weight and almost died.
6. In 1849, Harriet decided to run away from her master, Mr. Brodas.
7. After many days and nights, she reached Pennsylvania and was free.
8. Harriet returned many times to the south to help other slaves escape.
9. During the Civil War, Harriet worked as a spy for the Northern army.
10. Harriet openly spoke out about Women's rights and equality.
11. Harriet was given a military funeral when she died at 93 years old.
