Ideas for Teachers Using Powerpoint
in Your Classroom

- Developing Background for a piece of literature: author's picture, information about the author, photos of setting for realistic fiction or historical fiction, photos of real characters, images of vocabulary words or images of themes, collections of illustrations by a certain author
- Famous People in History: photos of world leaders, famous people involved with current events, enemies and foes through history
- Different Perspectives of... Crazy Horse examples: toy, heavy metal rock song lyrics, article by professor, interpretations by a teacher, Native American archives)...then encourage students to form their own interpretation
- Use images and text to persuade an audience (health issues, to see their side of an issue in history, sell a product)
- Collect mathematical data from the Internet to sort, compile, graph, arrange, calculate and make predictions
- Create interactive quizzes around math problems...use wrong answer slides to explain why the test taker could have chosen that answer
- Foreign language study...images of vocabulary words with labels, photographs of people, landmarks, geography, music, folklore, festivals and language clips
- Studying various aspects of Art...collect samples of different architectural designs, famous works by an artist, collections of images that reflect a certain theme, or collections of art to compare and contrast
- Studying various concepts in Math...collect samples of photos representing applied principles of geometry, physics, occupations with math
- Study of Human Body and systems...gather images of various body parts, organs and interactive demonstrations of various systems
- Physical Education...gather images of students and / or athletes achieving certain sports records or demonstrating the correct way to perform a certain physical task
- Science Lab...videotape lab experiments or gather images from the Internet demonstrating certain reactions and display with brief explanations or ask for predictions
- Create a Back to School Slide Show to guide parents through curriculum and see images of their students at work during classroom routines
- Students can create postcards with images from around the world
