This list was created in text format.  I searched for a few websites, created an activity title, added a few directions for students, included ways to monitor/assess their work, and cut and paste the URL from the actual website.
You can use the text and links below to copy and paste into your Trackstar form.    (Later on, once you've added one real Track to the Trackstar database, you can use the advanced TrackPack to help compile your links.)

Title: Dolphins

• Activity 1: Echolocation
  After reading the article Dolphin Talk by Chana Stiefel, logon to this Scholastic's Dolphin Watch website to learn more from the All About Dolphins interview with expert Dan Odell.  Skim through the list of interview topics to find the section in which you can learn more about how dolphins communicate.  Find out more about the process of echolocation and write an entry/draw a labeled picture in your science journal that illustrates how dolphins use echolocation to judge how far objects are away from them.

• Activity 2: Cetatean Relations Game
  Play the online Cetatean Relations Game to see how much you've learned about dolphins.

• Activity 3: Dolphin Expert Part 1
  Read this brief autobiography to find out a) What is Mr. Odell's current job title?  and b)What experiences did Mr. Odell have growing up that may have inspired him to work with sea mammals.  In our guided reading groups, we've been discussing how to make personal connections with what you read, so with that in mind, think about your own family experiences and make a list of five careers that you may possibly be interested in because of where you live, what you've done and what you've learned.  Record your answers on the handout at the computer center.

• Activity 4: Dolphin Anatomy
  Revisit the picture in the Dolphin Talk article and notice the five body parts labeled in the picture with the title "Dolphins: Head to Fin".  Access the Label Me: Dolphin image from Enchanted Learning and print the picture out.  Use the picture in the article and your own knowledge to help you label the body parts of this dolphin.  Once you've finished, check your answers with the print out at the computer station.
